I've added two more machines, (I'm so compulsive) to make myself a little arcade just in time for the cold winter weather.
R-Type is still my favorite to play. Classic shmup, way fun and challenging.

Turbo Out Run is a pretty standard driving game, reach the check point to add more time. The steering wheel shakes when you hit something. My son can barely see over the wheel but he loves it.

Space Invaders is an interesting piece. At first I wasn't sure about it. Primitive game play, B&W, I think it only makes about 10 sounds. However, I quickly fell in love. The simple game play is still very challenging. (I've yet to make it to the 4th level) The side art, glass art, and art within the cabinet is beautiful. The Retro coolness of this thing is through the roof and it has high replay value. I'm very happy to have this piece in my collection.

Picked up a fun toy this weekend. I've been looking at arcades for a while, most are either too expensive or not a game I want. This one was a mere $200 and R Type is kick ass. I love shmups. No collector's condition but it works great. My son and I've probably logged 15 hours on this thing this weekend.

I have fond childhood memories of feeding quarters into Road Blasters. I'd love to pick up one of those, all the console ports pale in comparison.

A side by side racing game would be awesome for me and Austin and when company comes over.

Good thing I've got a large finished basement :)

Dragon Warrior

I have a little history with this game. I first played this as a teenager. I reached the point in the game where you enter the final castle to face the Dragonlord, as I approached, the game reset! Turns out the battery died and all my progress, lost.

Now some 15 years later, I again took up my controller to save the kingdom of Alefgard.

I'm happy to report, this time my battery held up 'till the end

As a fan of the NES and Classic RPG I was well entertained by this game. Yes it was simple, yes there was alot of boring leveling up, repetitive music and a predictable story line, but that's what I expected.

I think this grandaddy of a RPG is worth a play, looking forward to the sequel. Happy Gaming!

Picked this up at Gamers for $0.90. Simple game. Shoot baddies in the maze. Gets progressively harder. Based on the arcade. There's a lot of bad Atari games. This is not one of them.

Game room rearranged

I got a little moisture in my room a while back, nothing major. My walls seeped during a very wet spring and a had a shelf get wet. It inturn soaked up the water and ruined some of my Guides. Biggest losses: Mario RPG Guide and Ogre Battle guide.

So after I dried it out and sealed the walls I rearranged the room. Got a couple shelves a over sized chair and ottoman. Also upgrade to a 32 tube TV.

My Castlevania, Simon's Quest

Simon's quest has a special place in my heart. I played this Castlevania the most as a kid as it was the first one I owned. In fact I don't really recall playing the third one at all as a boy.

One of my fondest childhood gaming memories involved this game. I distintly remember after finally collecting all the items, I marched to Dracula's castle, however there was a problem, it was a week day morning and I had to leave for school (I was a latch key kid and had to get myself ready and walk to school.). But I was sooooo close!!! I did what any die hard would have in my place and played through until I finished. I don't remember how late I was, 30 minutes tops, and I probably lied about why I was late, but I knew, as I ran to school, that I would have no greater accomplishment on that day.

Simon's Quest departed quite a bit from the original, trading the straightforward linear, action platformer for more of an adventure/RPG hybrid. Exploring was not only encouraged but required. Guidance and direction was rarely given by towns people, and misinformation is common. One of the issues people have with this game is this lack of direction, and the resulting frustration. But, if you know where to go, this is a very charming game to play though.

As an adult, I remember where everything is and can easily breeze though the game (8:35 according to the game clock this weekend, which translates closer 2 -3 hours real time) and that's because as a youth, prior to walkthroughs on the internet, I labored as the game's designers intended. I'm not sure I'd have the patience now.

Graphics: excellent improvement from the fist game. Wonderful music scores as with all game in the franchise. The challenge is different in this game, rather the difficult bosses, the challenge is finding all the items and completing the quest. Controls and mechanics are just as good as the first.

Over all, its a solid game but I can see why many consider this the black sheep of the early franchise. The challenge is total different, free roaming exploration and the three bosses you fight near the end are absolute push-overs.

I understand why their are so many critics with this game, I tend to agree with some of their points but there's some elements first seen in this game that will make the others so great.

The subtitle "Simon's Quest" is very fitting for this game. It's about the journey not the destination. Personally, I love this game, but to newcomers be warned, if you're looking for a game more like the original, best to keep looking.

Down with Dracula

Looking back I have both love and hate for Castlevania for the NES. Easily one of the top 10 games for the NES great story, solid graphics and awesome music however, growing up, I rarely got passed Frankenstein and never beat Death ( 2nd to last boss.) Very frustrating.

After reading in the Gamers area of Nintendoage, I was inspired to rectify that.

Tonight I can proudly say I beat Castelvania, at least I accomplished something this weekend.

Finally got a Master System

I've wanted to get a Master System for some time. I wasn't overly anxious to get one so I convinced myself to hold off and find one locally rather then EBay or pay ~$40 at my retro Gamers store.
I've been hovering over Craigslist and shopping thrift stores for nearly 3 years and I've seen multiple Ataris, NESs & SNESs, all of the colored N64s (except gold) and even two Mt Dew Xboxs. Even with all that watching, this is only the 2nd Master system I've seen. I was too late on Craigslist to get the first one, but I managed to beat the crowd and score this one for only $25 (he said he had a lot of interest)

Nothing super rare here, most games are in good shape, it's a good starter set. My son (3) likes it, I think it's because of it's similarities to the NES which he is starting to get good at.

Some note about the Master System:

Release in N America in 1986 and was technically superior to the NES in every way but it was largely unsuccessful in N America due to the popularity of the NES library. There was a significant lack of 3rd party releases because Nintendo wouldn't allow 3rd party companies to release NES licenced games to other consoles.

114 US titles

Early versions played both cartridges and "Sega Cards", cheaper and smaller games.

The Master System was successful in other parts of the world including Brazil where it was a huge hit. As of 2010, Master Systems and Mega Drives (Genesis) are still being sold in Brazil w/o cartridges rather paying games from memory.

Compared to NES boxes, the artwork completely sucks

Game Review: Guardian Legend

Today I completed the The Guardian Legend for the NES. The title can be a bit misleading having a RPG kinda ring to it, when in reality it's a classic shooter with some action/adventure sprinkled in.

The premise is that a world is hurtling toward earth and you must activate the self-destruct before it's target.

7.5/10. Solid Game
Worth a play-through.

Explore the the surface on foot, gathering items and weapons and seeking corridor entrances. These corridors are the shooter levels. There's 20. After clearing a pair of corridors you're rewarded with a new key to explore more areas. The surface exploration isn't very interesting, the occasional shop and mini boss area give some variety but the real game is in the shoot em up in the corridors

The weapon system is pretty good with the ability to use all weapons you'll find. You have a limited number of "chips" which act like energy for the special weapons. Each weapon has upgrades of up to 3 levels.

As the game progresses the corridors become more challenging as do the bosses. However, effective use of your various special weapons will have you prevailing against most bosses relatively easily. I wouldn't say its a cake walk there were some challenging areas, but by the end I was expecting a bit more of a challenge. I made it though the last stage on my 2nd try. Maybe it's because I am the "greatest player"

The password system blows. Takes 5 minutes just to start the game, but the in-game continue is nice.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good game. One of the better shmups for the NES. Definitely worth a play.

12/23/10: After thought, I've fired up a few other shmups for the NES and found most don't come close to the quality of this one. (though there are a few gems, Zanac for one) I think 7.5 is still a fair rating if you consider all games across all consoles but limiting it to NES, I'd put this game in the top 50. Very good NES game.

25th Anniversary Mario

I sprung for the Wii a month ago so I figure I should get the game too.

The Wii is pretty sweet, solid Mario Red. The Wii-mote and Chuck are cool looking too. The Wi motion plus is built in.

Red Wii Console:

Pro: Price
I sold My Wii, with a crappy game, and Wii Sports for $110. Sold my copy of Super Mario Wii for $30. So for a net of $60 (plus tax) I upgraded and got another motion plus.

Cons:
The pack in games are in sleeves rather then cases
Virtual Console Games can't be transferred (fortunately I had less then 10)

Final Word: I haven't missed my VC games and it's sweet, red and new. Happy with the upgrade

"Limited Edition" though how limited remains to be seen.
Mario Coolness: off the charts

Delay in controller response like the VC games
For being the the 25th Anniversary of one of the most influential games, the package falls short of what it could have been.

Final Word. Buy it cause it collectible or cause you don't have a Super Nintendo and no access to Virtual console games. I'll stick with the SNES or better yet, the originals on my NES.

Super Metroid

Solid 9/10

Of all the memories of NES games as a child, the memories of Metroid are my fondest. (2nd even to Zelda). I wouldn't say now that Metroid is the best NES game of all time but I'd consider it a contender for top 5.

What is odd is that with such love for the original, why has it taken me so long play Super Metroid? I've owned a crisp copy for 2 years now and though I did fire it up and play it for an hour at one point I never gave it attention and the respect it's predecessor earned in my youth.

Can I explain my behavior? No (though the n00b bridge is a likely excuse) but I believe one is allowed to repent of their sins. Here's my story:

Keeping with religious analogy, (it is Sunday morning after all) my road to redemption started as a casually read from my monthly inspirational literature (Nintendo Power #259). It contained accounts of the epic adventures of one of the greatest figures in gaming history: the galactic bounty hunter Samus. The article ranked each and named Super Metroid as the greatest.

The message seemed to be written for me. I am a classic gamer at heart, raised on 2D platformers from childhood. The epic battle on Zebus is still clear in my mind, I know where all the items are hidden and can recall my anxiety as a boy first entering Mother Brain's lair at the journey's the end game.

How could I be so blind? So naive? Why had I turned my back on the truth all this time?

I was so moved by my revelation that I immediately retired to my sanctuary, pulled the game off the shelf, out of it's box protector and proceeded to play with an eye single to competing the task at hand. To which I was successful.

Super Metroid did not disappoint. It kept everything that made the original great and improved upon it. Exploration of six large areas, hidden rooms and lots of items. Solid game play, responsive controls and wonderfully designed audio.

The only real knock I'd give it is that the final bosses were too easy. Draygon was difficult due to the unconventional method to defeat it, all others I beat at the first attempt.

Highly recommended (though I'm sure I'm biased) If you liked the original this is a no [mother] bainer. Wow, can I really end a posting with such a bad pun?

God of War: Amazing

Upfront, I want to state that I'm a retro gamer. That is my defense for not playing God of War before now. For the new release of GoW3, Gamestop had the original for $5. So I snagged a copy and eventually fired it up.

I found the action intense, the graphics and controls designed and implemented very well and most of all, the story and it's execution was top notch.

Kratos is a major bad ass who's been enslaved by his own overwhelming regret of the past. The story is revealed as the game progresses and you delve deeper into Kratos' psyche to learn of the origins of his hatred for Aries, the god of war.

The heavy influence of Greek mythology is perfect for game such as this and allows for some unique stories and situations for our hero.

Once you complete in normal mode, God mode is unlocked, and let me tell you, it's tough. It appears that you're well rewarded with additional story parts if you can complete though.

My only dig on the game, is that there was a few places where the obstacles were too tedious and difficult compared to the rest of the game.

The hand to hand combat sequences are incredible, here, Kratos is about to rip the head of a Medusa-like enemy

9.5 of 10

All elements of this game are superb. I see now why this is such a popular series. I'm looking forward to the sequels, which I'm sure are even better, but for now this one gets a near perfect 9.5/10

Funny story, early on, there is a nude scene with two topless women begging Kratos to return to bed. Just as this scene opens, my wife walks in to my game room. So I say, "this is the first time I've seen naked boobies in a video game before" (mostly true, I've played Hot Slots on the NES) "Well" she says, "Glad I could share that experience with you, I'm going to bed". She wasn't impressed.

Review Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii)

I think I first saw a write up this in Nintendo Power and wanted to give it a shot if the price was right. So when I saw a copy on clearance for $19.99, I snagged it.

My first impression was that this game was like a work of art, wonderful music, amazing imagery, and a distinct Asian theme. There is little doubt that this is one of the most beautiful games released on the Wii.

The controls are designed well too. The movement during battle sequences is fluid and responsive. I love the Gamecube controller capability.

This game is instantly fun and a treat for the eye. The story well done but is difficult to follow (unless you're familiar with Japanese culture). Additionally, early on, there's a fair amount of back tracking.

Eventually, you begin to earn new sword and can forge additional ones. Each more powerful with secondary special weapon and usually some sort of character skill up grade. There are some RPG elements, items, exp, soul, spirit, and money all play a part.

My only real complaint is the game never really changes. Much like side scroll platformers of old, like Mario and Sonic, the gameplay remains the same from start to finish.

I did play through the game and all it's endings. I found that I couldn't put it down. The optional challenge layers were great and some more challenging then the final bosses. Overall, this game was quite impressive, but it seemed to lack a little of what makes a good game great. Still, I'll give it an 8.5/10

Review: The House of the Dead: Overkill (Wii)

Since I was first introduced to Sega's The House of the Dead II on the Dreamcast, I've been enamored with the franchise. This most recent title may well be the best yet.

I with most fans of the HOTD games, believe that HOTD II is the best of the series. (Reason enough to own a Dreamcast and light gun). So I was skeptical when I heard from another gamer that Overkill surpassed HOTD II. Yet it took me less then 5 minutes with Overkill to come to the conclusion that it was the best HOTD game to date.

Overkill is exceedingly gory and profane. Yet if you're not bothered by that, you'll find the charm of this game infectious. First of all, the soundtrack is wonderful, uptempo music that is reminiscent of 70's funk. This is fitting because the game is designed to feel like an old theater film. The comical sound effects in the menu screen, the ridiculous story and voice acting, even the cover art demonstrate how this game doesn't take itself seriously.

9.5 out of 10

Like previous releases, HOTD Overkill is a first person shooter on rails with simple controls, just point and shoot. Some new features include, new weapons and upgrades for each, and ability to switch between two weapons during gameplay. Additionally, the combo meter/bonus is very well implemented with the goal of reaching Gorgasim.

I need to mention that this game can be played with a single Wii remote: no nun-chuck is needed. This may be the only FPS on the Wii that does that and it's beautiful.

It may not be expansive but there are more levels to complete then other HOTD games. Once the story mode is completed, the director's cut is unlocked for longer levels and more zombies er... I mean mutants. It's a shorter game but at $20 you get your money's worth.

The one real beef I had with was with the profanity. Detective Washington drops the F-bomb 50 times or more through out this game. This is intentional to be funny, and it is. However, my wife didn't appreciate it and I couldn't play with my son within earshot. The movie audio can be adjusted to eliminate most of it but not all.

House of the Dead Overkill is addictive, casual and fun. All elements are really well done. I might be bias because I'm a huge zombie fan but I'd give the game a rating of 9.5 / 10.

Wii Sports Resort: Secret Archery Targets Revealed

The fourth stamp of the Archery Event is entitled “A Secret to Everybody”

The premise is that in every stage (4) of the 3 difficulties there is a secret target. Hit the target in each of the 12 stages to earn this stamp. Hitting a target will get you 10 points and an “Incredible!” or similar from the narrator.

Tips for finding targets,

1. The secret targets will occasionally shine in the sunlight (in daytime) revealing their location.

2. The targets I have found resemble the items from “Speed Slice” in the Swordplay events category, i.e. cake, water melons, oranges.

3. Scan the scenery during the introduction of each stage

4. When your shot is following the correct path, the camera will follow

behind the arrow as it approaches the target.

5. Aim High!

I think the title of this stamp “A Secret to Everybody” is a nod to The Legend of Zelda. I believe the creatures in the treasure rooms say that.

Review: Wii Sports Resort

tThe Wii is legendary for bad games. However, most of the first party stuff is pretty good. Wii Sports Resort is no exception.

This game took the best parts of Wii Sports and Wii Play and combined them into a simple yet fun, family game that surpasses both.

7.5 out of 10

Loaded with a ton of different types of games, it will will keep your interest. Crack out on one game ( I was hooked on the island flyover at first) then move on to another little gem, like wake boarding, jet-skiing, archery or Frisbee golf. There's a handful of weak ones but most are pretty solid.

Like it's predecessor, resort perfectly utilizes the Wii greatest assets, the motion controller.

My only beef with it is really is with the additional sensor unit required to play. One comes with the game however, you have to buy a 2nd one @ $20 to play 1 on 1 games. (Fortunately there's only a few). Also, the extra length is annoying in other applications like the virtual console.

Over all it's a solid title. Get this one and you'll be reminded of why you fell in love with the Wii in the first place.

Silent Hill Playstation

I'm a classic gamer so I'm allowed to be behind the times right. Well if you're like me hadn't tried Silent Hill yet, you're in for a treat.

Dubbed the "Resident Evil Killer" this survival/horror shooter has many similarities w/ RE. Somewhat limited ammo, zombie like creatures and super spooky.

Was it scarier the RE? In some ways yes. Less cheap scares like zombies out of nowhere and more set up scene and music creating a very unconfortable atmosphere to navigate our hero through.

Silent hill falls a little short of the RE killer with clumsy controller and bad voice acting however, this is a must play if you're a RE fan. The music & sound effects are top notch and the story is creepy and unintelligible at some times, lending to the creepiness of it all.

I've yet to play any of the other incarnations in the Silent Hill franchise but if this one is any clue on how good they are, then I'm in for some more heart pounding evenings.

True Confessions

Ok, so I claim to be a NES nerd and I grew up with classic games but I have a confession to make: Until last week, I had never beaten Super Mario Brothers. Even my wife had done that as a kid.
So latley my son has started playing the NES. He's not yet 3 y/o so here only good at light gun games and he can play SMB a little. He prefers to watch me play SMB.

Well, I finally made it past world 8-2 for only the 2nd time in my life about a week ago then, on my 2nd time in Bowers castle, I finally save the Princess

Maybe I should start on another classic I haven't beaten for the Genesis

The fifth generation era in video gaming gave us many new advances in gaming. Chief of which, optical disc technology. The use of CDs allowed for greater data storage which yielded more sophisticated and elaborate games. One of the few drawbacks to CDs was the inability to save games. Unlike their cartridge counter parts, there is no room for a battery on a CDrom.

Enter the memory card. Though now all but phased out only 2 generations later, those of us that still play the classics need to deal with them.

Sadly, Sony didn’t make it possible to save PS1 game data to PS2 cards. Also, 3^rd party cards do not work on the PS2 slim. Therefore, used official PS1 cards demand a premium. Backward compatible PS3s do not require memory card to play either PS1 and PS2 games, however, an adaptor is needed ($14.99 USD) to upload any previously saved data from existing cards.

Here is a break down of Playstation memory cards and their compatibility based on console.

Personally, I just have a PSOne and a PS2 slim hooked up. I wont need pricey Sony made PS1 cards that way.

I got Pokemon Box (and Coliseum ) tonight with a small GC lot for $60.

Pokemon stadium box was free at my local retro game store. ( I had the cart and xfer pac already)

2 weeks ago i got the N64 for $40 also at this store.

And I don't even really like Pokemon.

Yeah so since I got that Intelivison (2 posts back) I've been craving an Atari. I scored one w/25 games on craiglist for $25 on Thurdsay and have been playing the hell out of it.

Collecting Atari? I've got a CIB sytem comming in the mail that I won from eBay with some CIB games. I made a list of 25 games I'd like to pick up either CIB or sealed. I look forward to amassing a small but quality little collection.

Scored this while my competition was out of town :) $30.
I hooked it up, works great, but I've never been a fan of the controllers.
This has got me wanting an Atari thou.

I was surprised at the lack of value that Intellivion has. Most games aren't worth anything CIB or otherwise. A CIB system like this only runs about $40-$50 tops on eBay. I figure, I saved $$ on shipping.

Like with any classic systems there are some rarer ones. My lot included the semi rare (R7) Super Pro Decathlon. I just put this on Ebay, I'm hoping for at least $65 for it.

I went to the Midnight Release of RE5 last week. I don't have a Xbox 360 or a PS3 yet so it wouldn't make much sense to pick up a copy but I'm a big fan of the series

I found a cool Limited edition Mountain dew Xbox here in Omaha, tho not super rare, it's super cool.

The Mountain Dew Limited Edition Xbox was only available through a Mountain Dew sweepstakes requiring loyal Dew-drinking Xbox fans to amass 550 points in order to "buy" the Limited Edition Xbox. The sweepstakes spanned 5 months – from April to August – in 2004. Production numbers seems 5000. The Mountain Dew Limited Edition Xbox was neon-green colored and had a special jewel atop the Xbox that had the words "Limited Edition" and the Mt. Dew logo under the Xbox name. A local video store is slowly selling off it's Game Cube inventory. I've got some pretty good games for $10 each.

In their display area, they had 2 of these signs. They recently rearranged and made the GC section small and stacked 1 sign behind the other.

I was there tonight at 11:30 and I ask the guy working the late shift about it, and he let me take one home.

I'm not supposed to say anything tho ;)

About Me and My Collection

I always loved video games as a kid. I first had a Atari 2600 then a friend of mine brought over his NES one day for a sleep-over. I had to get one so I used up the little savings account I had and got one soon after.

My dad borrowed Metriod from a guy at work and him and I played it through. Other favorites I had as a kid were, Zelda, Kid Icarus, Contra and Rad Racer.

I did have a SNES in high school but I didn't play it much and when N64 was released, I was too busy as a freshman in college to think about Nintendo.

In 2007 I was rebuilding/ restoring classic motorcycles. To help me fund the motorcycle hobby, I started buying selling video game systems off Craigslist and garage sales. It was during this time when I found the gem below for $25.

I was so excited and felt like I did at Chistmas as a kid. I decided to keep it and thus became a Nintendo collector.

Once my son was born a few months later, the motorcycle thing was hard to find time to do. So Nintendo collecting became my collecting focus.

Collecting goals: I would like to have a complete NES set and Gamecube set. There's a few other small things but just Nintendo, no desire for Playstation Xbox Atari ect:

One thing I'm most proud of is though I have a large collection, most of the funding of it has not come from the household budget. I still buy locally and sell on eBay for large profit.

Neatest thing in my collection, below is a display I made to commemorate the time I made it into Nintendo Power with a high score.
Note the location. I'm justified in being a Patriots fan ;) Matt Cassel will shock the football world!

All the loose carts are unlicenced. Cheaper that way plus I think the carts themselves look cool.

Would be fun the have the most common peripherals CIB too, Avantage, Max, Powerglove etc.
I'm only 4 or 5 away from a complete black box set, however, the remaining ones I need are pretty pricey.

Gamecube Goodness

I'm a big fan of the Gamecube. With the games still available at local game stores, acquiring most of this stuff has been a snap.

My favorite thing about Gamecube; incredible art work. One of the things I find most attractive about NES is the Box art. Many beautiful boxes. SNES, N64 and even Wii boxes however, leave much to be desired.

By far the N64 has been the money maker in my collection. I have found dozens of these in the wild. Tho the systems doesn't sell very well, but I've sold over a hundred of games on ebay. Overall I like the system. Mario party and Supersmash brothers was introduced on the N64. Also, MaroKart64 has a place in my heart.

None really. A box for my Zelda Majoro's Mask and Mariokart would be sweet.

Super Nintendo

Many consider the Super Nintendo era as the "Golden Age of Video Gaming". Quality games with great stories and playablity. Just on the verge of 3D environments: development was focused more on the game rather then effects.

My expereance with the SNES is almost non-existant. The SNES was released while I was in high school, so I had other interests at the time.

I've tried to pick up most of the better RPGs. I'm missing a couple still I'd also like to get the Super Bomberman II party pack (another big box games)

Gameboy Collection

I admit, at one time, I had the goal to collect all the "Black Box" gameboy advance games. They were NES re-releases after all. I've since move on.

Most of the loose games I just stumbled apon in my collecting activities. I should bring one to work to play at my lunch break :)

Gameboy is lowest on the priority list however, I'd love to get a GB Color, GBA SP and original Gameboy with the boxes. I would also like to have all the Zedla games in boxes along with the Metroid titles.

Found these this weekend. It's been a while since I added to my NES collection. Less the $30 for all.
I found this acouple months ago off craigs list for like $50. Stuff was in great shape. After this find, I started to offically collect gamecube.
Minty complete Zelda from Gamers. Boosted the paypal fund with this one.
I sold the wavebirds and Mario Mix and that covered most of what I payed for all this
Got the PS1 2 weeks ago for $1. Stopped at the good will to get a game to test it: Turns out Mega Man was worth over $40. Again, boost for paypal.

I told myself I wouldn't do it but sure enough, here's the start of my non-Nintendo collection.

As you can see, I've got a nice little Genesis collection, I had this system as a young adult. Earth Worm Jim and Phantasy Star IV were the only games I had. Beleve it or not all this Genesis stuff was purchased locally ( except Toejam and Earl) and cheaply. Even the CIB system was $8 at the Goodwill. I also cane across a boxed 32X recently. Collecting goals? There's some decent titles out there I don't have yet.

I got my first Playstation in 2002 after I was married. Grand Torismo 2 and Final Fantasy 9 got alot of playing time. I never really intended on collecting Playstation stuff I've really never been a fan of it. Again all local finds. Someone gave me the PS2 Slim for a NES, the PS1 was bought at a Garage sale for $1 (boxes for the PS1 and PS2 were found at Gamers for $2) and the PSone came off of Craigslist for $15. The PS2 is hooked up but I never use it. Collecting Goals? I've been snaging up RPGs when I come across them cheap.

I've wanted a Turbografx 16 since I started collecting seriously. I'm not sure why. I had one for about 4 weeks in High School. Bought it cheap 2nd hand, played it for a couple weeks and sold it for more $. I don't even remember what games I had. This one is also hooked up and I've play the crap out of Blazing Lazers. It's hard to see but I've got 30 or so titles for it already. Collecting Goals? I was pretty active for a short time tring to get all of the Hucards. Less interested now but I grab them when I see them.

Xbox. That green one is a limited edition Mountain Dew Xbox. It's real cool looking. I've got a Xbox 360 I never play. Collecting goals? None really, other limited edition consoles as I see them and I want to get House of the Dead III and the light gun

4-bit: I picked up a CIB Intelivison with a handfull of CIB games for like $20 one day. As soon as I got it I wanted a Atari 2600. I had the INTV hooked up for a day and never really cared for it. Since I've picked up around 10 CIB games at gamers for $1 each.

Atari 2600: Not since the first NES I got as an adult have I been so excited about collecting and playing. Bit by bit, I've accumilated around 20 games I first listed off when I thought about getting Atari games. Many are sealed. The 2600 is hooked up and I play it alot. I've even submitted a few high scores with it. Collecting Goals? None really, there's a handful more 2600 games that I've heard are good. I'd like to pick them up to try. I'll grab 2600 and INTV CIB games up at Gamers as I see them. I've heard that Utopia is good for INTV.

Dreamcast: I recently picked up a loose one on the cheap at the goodwill. It came with 2 madcatz guns and House of the Dead II. This game is reason enough to own this system. I play that game alot right now. Collecting goals? I'd like to get a CIB one and maybe the top 10-20 games for it

A 3DO if I found one cheap would be kinda cool. Possibly a Sega Master System. I've got an Atari 5200 and I'm not a fan. A 7800? Meh. No interest in a Jaguar either. I don't have a PS3 or a DS yet. Someday probably. I do want an arcade. I'd find room somewhere fo Bump 'n Jump and Road Blasters

Gettin' Fit with NES not Wii

I've been taling about doing this and I finally set it up. I hooked a NES with 2 contoller extentions in the family room. I walked for over 40 minutes, 1.8 miles, 250 cals and raised up 1 level on Dragon Warrior.

Next time I'll wear shoes and try my 1 handed controller.

This summer,I stumbled upon this in a online garage sale here in Omaha. I actually had no idea that any of this stuff was in boxes, it was just listed as Nintendo with games. I only paid $25. Prior to finding this I was buyin and selling video games and systems to make a few bucks. This find changed everything. I'm now a full fledged NES collector ( NES Nerd, as my wife affectionately calls me)
